Autograph letter in German (untranslated) signed by him, dated October 29, 1880, addressed to Mr. May, saying "I am very happy to take over the tenor part of the Glocke since this part was written especially for me by Mr. Max Bruch, and I had the honor of being the first tenor to sing the role in GuÌrzenich Saale in Cologne on May 12th, two years ago...â.
