The Story

Star German opera composer (1813-1883), together with Giuseppe Verdi, Wagner was the most famous creator and a dominant figure in the genre for several decades of the 19th century.

Short but wonderful autograph note signed, saying that "by request, gentlemen Dr. Forster and Neumann are highly recommended". Angelo Neumann (1838-1910) and August Forster were both managers of the Leipzig Opera theater and responsible for the premiere of the Ring in Wagner´s birth city.

More information about Wagner, and his long and rather complex but fruitful relationship with Neumann and Forster is described in the book "Richard Wagner and the Jews" by Milton E. Brener. See HERE.

This is a rare, important document connecting this men, since there is a truly interesting and long history between them.

Autograph note is 8.6 x 5.5 inches, folds, small crack over the bottom of the vertical fold, overall age toning but in very good condition.

ALSO INCLUDED is a nice, modern photo postcard of the composer, 4.1 x 5.9 inches, in excellent condition.
