German composer (1864-1949) and conductor, best known for his tone poems and his operas Salome, Elektra, Der Rosenkavalier, and others; considered a successor of Wagner and Liszt. 

Beautiful black-and-white photograph signed by him on the front and inscribed on verso, dated 1948, shown conducting. Size is 5.4 x 3.4 inches, in excellent condition.
