French actress (1821-1858), well known in her time as "Rachel", was a prominent figure in society, reputed to be the mistress of Napoleon III and other important figures.
The first edition of the two-volume book "Memoirs of Rachel Felix" published by Hurst & Blackett (London) in 1858 right after her decease. Each volume's size is 5.25 x 7.8 inches, over 330 pages (vol.1), over 340 pages (vol.2); some signs of wear and cracks on the spine, original covers, handwritten text on the full title page by previous owner, in overall very good condition.
