Russian dancers Serge Legat (1875-1905) and Tamara Karsavina (1885-1978) are shown in this wonderful cabinet-style photograph from early 20th Century, in Cesare Pugni´s ballet "The Naiad and the Fisherman".
Original photographs of Legat, who was famous and committed suicide at age 30, are scarce. An original, hand-colored photo by the Imperial Theater in St. Petersburg, Russia, 5 x 7.25 inches, mounting traces on verso, in very good condition. See scans.
