Autograph letter in German signed twice by him, no date, to a gentleman about music matters. Size is 5.2 x 8.4 inches, 2 written pages in one sheet (front and back), smudges over ink, rust stains, folds, creases, and wrinkles, in good condition.
In 1854 in the town of Krefeld, he set to words the 1840 poem “Die Wacht am Rhein” by Max Schneckenburger. In recognition of the success and the national importance of this song, he received the title of “Royal Prussian Musical Director” in 1860.Â
