Donizetti, Gaetano - Autograph Letter Signed 1839

Italian composer (1797-1848) mostly of operas, one of the 3 most important composers of the Bel Canto style together with Rossini and Bellini, during the first half of the 19th century.

Autograph letter signed, no year but mail stamped on verso in 1839, to an unknown recipient (Vicomte Valph), about a dinner the night before and a financial debt with this person. One page, in French, sold with a transcription and translation, 5.4 x 8 inches, mounting traces on verso, otherwise in excellent condition. 

ALSO INCLUDED is a small postcard with a portrait of the composer, from the early 1900s, 3.4 x 5.5 inches, some silvering, in good condition.
