Hungarian composer, pianist, conductor, and teacher (1811-1886).
Wonderful autograph letter signed, dated in Weimar in 1860, in French, most probably to the son of French composer Hyppolyte-AndrĂ©-Jean-Baptiste ChĂ©lard (1789-1861), a friend of Liszt who was a well-established composer and conductor in Weimar. Chelard was probably ill and would die just a few months after this letter, Liszt is thanking Chelard´s son for a portrait of his father and speaking highly of him.Â
Bold, very clear signature, connecting the two great composers who shared conducting the same orchestra in Weimer.
One sheet written on both sides, in French, sold with both full transcription and translation, 5.5 x 8.6 inches, folds, in very good condition.
