Deems Taylor Signed Play is an original 1927 edition of The King's Henchman, a 3-act play by Edna St. Vincent Millay, signed by American composer and music critic Deems Taylor (1885β1966) as well as by Millay herself. The first blank page bears both inscriptions, accompanied by a small attached clip referencing the world premiere of Taylorβs opera based on this very play on February 3, 1928, at The Metropolitan Opera House, New York.
This Deems Taylor Signed Play measures 5.25 x 7.6 inches and contains 132 pages plus covers. Published by Harper & Brothers, New York and London, the book shows previous ownership markings at the top but remains in very good condition, preserving the rare dual signatures and historical context.Β
