A. July 5, 1893. To the composer Carlos de Mesquita (1864-1953): “…nous verrions tous deux ce que je prĂ©senterai au Conservatoire cette annĂ©e…”. On a postcard.Â
B. Paris, October 3, 1907. To the composer and pianist Michel-Maurice LĂ©vy (1883-1965), concerning: “…votre beau projet de glorifier la mĂ©moire de l’illustre musicien Edouard Grieg…”.Â
C. Paris, March 21, 1910. To an editor in chief, concerning a musical controversy: “…Mon excellent ami et collaborateur Pierre LouĂżs [1870-1925, Belgian poet] a dĂ©jĂ fait justice – dans une lettre que vous avez bien voulu publier – du sans-gĂŞne de M. M. [Hans, journalist] Liebstockl et [Max von] Oberleithner. Ă€ mon tour, je proteste Ă©nergiquement entre le procĂ©dĂ© de quelques compositeurs d’outre-Rhin qui s’approprient, sans y ĂŞtre autorisĂ©s, tous les sujets d’opĂ©ras français qui leur conviennent. Il y a, en matière de proprietĂ© littĂ©raire, un droit de prioritĂ© est indiscutable…”.Â
