The Story

French composer (1809-1881).

Fine autograph letter in French signed by him, dated in Marseille, 1859, to Mr. Sylvain Saint Etienne:

"... I thank you very much for all that you have said so kindly to me in your charming feuilleton of the Union which you have sent me. My quartet seems to have produced some effect at the Sivori session, I think I can judge so by the articles in the music journals France Musicale and the Gazette Musicale. (...) I gave Boinclos a long time ago a quintetto which he promised to engrave, and the separate parts of which are to be at home in Paris, probably in your hands."

The qualities of Morel are fully expressed in the field of chamber music, a genre for which he was awarded the Chartier prize three times by the Academy of Fine Arts, in 1863, 1874 and 1877. Size is 5.2 x 8.2 inches each page, 3 written pages in one folded sheet, folds, creases, in overall very good condition.
